Chocoholics are strong-willed impressive characters who bend life to their ends. They are exacting, uncompromising and resolute. Some would say purists in a Virgoan manner. They are unflinching and sometimes cruel in their desire for their one thing: Cocoa.
Caramellows are sweet and yielding to the point of depravity. Sugar is their thing. Their bête noire, the hyperactive monkey on their backs. They crave gummy bears in the same way that degenerates crave cigarettes. They are in it for the sugar in all it’s candied iterations: caramel, marshmallow, pralines, honeycomb, and for the truly trashy — gummy bears. Sugar makes them happy. It fills them with joy, makes them snap, crackle, and pop. Sugar speeds them up and twirls them around all while tasting so damn good. It’s a sweetness to crawl into and dissolve into every corner.
And then there are the Salty Bishes. The characters who would rather a bowl of chips, a plate of fries, or caviar (if we’re really talking salty). SB’s think sweets are silly and frivolous. Their taste runs more towards blood, sweat, and tears. SB’s are the ultimate flavor balancers.
In order to determine your sweet style, just answer the next three questions:
In the throes of emotional turmoil when I turn to food for comfort.
% I reach for: chocolate, what else?
# I always pick ooey gooey layer sugar cakes, blondies, pudding and ice cream. If it’s really bad, I go straight for the junk: gummy bears, licorice or Mike’n Ikes.
@ When I’m stressed I drink and might throw down a handful of chips.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
% You thought I’d say chocolate, but no true chocoholics can get their fix from synthetic chocolate ice cream. However, the dark chocolate chips in vanilla ice cream are not bad.
# Ribbons of caramel is my go-to. There are small chunks of burnt sugar, which offer a mellow sweetness. The soft sugary taste is exactly why ice cream was invented. And that’s what I’m after.
@ I’d rather have pretzels, so something with pretzels or salted nuts.
You’re out for a meal at a nice restaurant, choose your dessert:
% Bomb du chocolat:
# Creme brûlée:
@ Can I have more bread? Or maybe another order of frites?
If you chose all %’s you are a chocoholic, but you already knew that.
